The Sock Factory

The Sock Factory is the premier performance & high fashion sock manufacturer in North America. We are a vertically integrated facility, and we specialize in high performance athletic goods, dress, compression and outdoor socks. We are dedicated to creating the perfect blend of performance, style and construction.

We are family-owned and operated located in western North Carolina. We have over 40 years of experience and we pride ourselves in top level customer service, innovation and providing quality products at competitive prices.

Our Story

After returning to the Carolinas from his duties in the US Air Force, Mike Banks Sr. found himself surrounded by a booming Textile industry. He soon realized there was a need for a small dye and finishing operation that could help the larger companies fulfill their orders. So, in 1975 with one dye tube, one boarding machine and a one boiler, he started NuSox Finishing (now The Sock Factory). 

In 1997 Michael Jr joined his father and helped grow the business by installing 10 knitting machines and becoming a complete turnkey operation.

In 2012 Nathan Banks joined the team after working as designer & marketing specialist for the largest hosiery manufacture in world, working with brands like Under Armour, New Balance and Goldtoe.

We now proudly employ over 50 people and have over 60 knitting machines and look forward to a bright future making tomorrow's socks today.
